THE EFFECT OF PEER TEACHING ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS IN EFL CLASSES

Peer teaching techniques in higher education in Western countries are widely used to improve students' motivation, learning, and capacity-building. However, in Ukraine very little research has been done on this teaching approach and it is not frequently used in Ukrainian educational practice. The study is focused on students (tutors and tutees) and their interaction in peer taught EFL classes. The article investigates the advantages of implementation of peer teaching approach in EFL classes. Attention is focused on the importance of peer teaching techniques which can make a significant difference in the learning process for non-native speakers of English. The article is aimed at describing the use of peer teaching to enhance learning experience of students, their confidence and motivation; at describing how students become actively and more directly involved in the learning process when peer teaching techniques are applied. The light is shed on how the implementation of the peer teaching approach in EFL classes helps to produce positive outcomes for both tutors and tutees.

CURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN UKRAINE: POSSIBLE WAYS OF TEACHING ENGLISH DUE TO MODERN TECHNOLOGIES AND DIFFERENT METHODS OF TEACHING

The article deals with the current state of English language in Ukraine and modern technologies of its learning. A mention should be made about inappropriate methods of teaching and possible variants of their avoidance. There are examined such innovations as online courses, multilingual classes and mixed reality smart glasses. We conduct an experiment using non-standard methods of teaching in order to identify whether English is more achievable thanks to a creative approach. It is noted the barriers to successful teaching: insufficient investigating in teachers, outdate learning and the drawbacks of academic curriculum. There are represented possible ways of science development including brand-new technologies (Microsoft HoloLens and online classroom). It is proposed to implement and popularize collaborate learning. It is indicated that modern technologies are insufficiently implemented in the development of science and its further development.
